Pheonix Velo Novices' event

13th September, K41/10, Wolvey

Novices 10-mile TT – but ALL WELCOME
The last counting event in this year’s Midlands Women’s TT Series will be a 10-mile event on the Wolvey course (K41/10) on 13th September. This is a ‘club’ event so entries will only be on the day. The event starts at 4pm with signing on from 3pm.
This is a unique event on a very quiet, safe course which is ideal for people to try time trialling for the first time. Any road-worthy bike can be used and all riders, male or female, fast or slow, young or old (minimum age 12) will be welcome. There is no need to be in a club.

Womens' Series Presentation Evening

At the Womens' Series EveningTrek Bicycle - CoventryThe seventh edition of the Midlands Womens' Time Trial Series came to an enjoyable conclusion with a social night at the Shakespeare Inn in Harbury.  Twenty four riders, former riders, friends and partners shared a delicious meal of Thai green chicken curry in a pleasant, exclusive dining room.

Midlands Women’s TT Series 2013 Event 7: Shirley RC 10mTT

Trek Bicycle - CoventryThe final event in the 2013 Midlands women’s TT series was a 10mTT on the K36/10 in Hockley Heath, a change from last year’s course (the K1/10) due to roadworks. A breezy summer’s evening saw eight women line up for the event (one of whom, Sarah Coleman, is not in the series, but we hope she will be persuaded to take part next year!). The K36/10 has not previously been used in the women’s series and proved to be fairly hard going, at least for your author.

Midlands Women’s TT Series 2013 Event 6: Banbury Star CC 20km

12 eager ladies lined up for the 6th event in the Midlands women’s TT series run over a 20km sporting, but mostly flat, triangular course just north of Banbury. While the course held no nasty surprises in the first 18km, it certainly had the potential to catch out those arriving close to the finish on an empty tank as there was a steep climb in the last couple of kms! The weather was warm and it was reasonably still, setting the stage for some potentially fast times.

Due to road works this event has moved from the K1/10 and will now be held on the K36/10

UPDATED - Women's Series - Event 5 Result

The fifth event in the Midlands Women’s TT series was held on Sunday 7 July. 14 women took part, of whom 11 are participating in the Women’s TT series. Even though it was an early start, it was a beautiful morning for time trialling.

Jackie Hobson, secretary of Warwickshire RC and Helen Boatmanprevious participant in the Women’s TT Series, was timekeeping for the first time as she’s not able to ride due to illness. Best wishes to Jackie for a speedy recovery. Thanks too to Jackie for getting flowers for all the women participants in the event; it was a lovely gesture, and much appreciated.

Annis MooreThe battle for first, second and third was very close as it has been throughout the series. Helen Boatman of Team Milton Keynes was the winner, in 59:48, with Annis Moore of Stafford RC in second (01:00:23) and Liz Powell of Mike Vaughan Cycles in third (01:00:40). Times were generally very quick, with Cath Fenn and your author, Anna Wordsworth (both Warwick Uni Tri and RCC) setting huge PBs.

liz-powellIn the series rankings, Rosie Armitage remains in the overall lead, with Helen Boatman in second, now only one point behind. Annis Moore moves up to third, ahead of Liz Powell. Anna Wordsworth now leads the most improved rider standings, ahead of Annis and Liz. Helen Boatman retains the lead in the series rankings for vets on standard, with Sue Smith (Stafford RC) and Annis Moore also remaining in second and third respectively.

The men’s event was won by Stefan Harrison of Stourbridge Velo in 52:54.
